The Jesus Lens

Today I'd like to recommend yet another way that you can really get a biblical focus on the Lord Jesus Christ... it's called, "The Jesus Lens." There currently are three sessions that you can go through as listed below. Here is a description from the website:

"Confusion abounds about the Bible and what it intends to say about God. Is he a demanding deity, or a tender Abba? How do we reconcile the Old and New Testament depictions of God and come away from reading the Bible inspired to greater trust in the Father rather than condemned in our failures? Many have given up reading Scripture because they are either intimidated by its content or confused about how to interpret it. However, by looking at the whole of Scripture through the revelation of Jesus we can see that it was never intended to be a book of rules, but an unfolding story to show us who God is and how he thinks. In this series Wayne Jacobsen wants to help you read the Bible through the lens of Jesus that not only makes it easier to understand, but also resolves the seeming inconsistencies in its message and content. For 40 years Wayne has been a student of Scripture mining it for wisdom, encouragement, and insights that helped him follow God more accurately and he hopes you will find the same treasure in its pages."

Let me encourage you to avail yourself of these great resources.

The Jesus Manifesto

In my pursuit of a focus on the person and work of Christ, I'd like to highly recommend a book that I am reading. The book is "The Jesus Manifesto" by Leonard Sweet and Frank Viola. It an amazing book that will help you to focus like a laser, on our Christ. Frank Viola also has another book entitled, "Epic Jesus," that is also helpful.

Enjoy!

Welcome to The Jesus Encounter! This blog site is a work in progress but will have as it's primary focus discussions, articles and other media about knowing Christ and experiencing His life lived out through our lives. Among other things, I'm planning on a weekly online small group where we'll share and discuss various aspects of the Life of Christ. Feel free to contact me for more information. I'd also encourage you to follow my Morning Manna podcast which is available for subscription at iTunes and at the Morning Manna website. Currently I'm in the middle of streaming the nightly sessions of the Code Orange Revival from Elevation Church. You can follow that at our online streaming page at www.thejesusencounter.com/codeorange. The next broadcast is this evening, Sunday, January 15th, at 6:00 PM Eastern. Choosing Joy! Bruce
